How to Browse the Public Depot

If you're simply curious about our Public Depot, please browse freely.

We currently have three browser programs installed for use with the Public Depot. These are all user-contributed Perl programs; try them all and see which one you like:

perfbrowse Originally contributed by ???, with modifications by Jeff Marshall, Clay Mayers, and Greg Spencer.
p4browse (Description TBA.) Contributed by Christian Ludloff.
P4DB Hierarchical view of the depot tree, cross-referenced with file histories and changelist descriptions. Also shows branch, label, and user specifications. Special feature: the Great Submit Race! Contributed by Fredric Fredricson.

If none of these programs completely satisfy you, we'd be happy to consider your modifications or alternative offerings! (See "How to Contribute" below.)

We also have WebKeeper installed, so if you know exactly which file you want to see, you can give it to your web browser as a URL, using public.perforce.com as the domain. For example:

To look at... //public/jam/src/jam.c
...use this URL: http://public.perforce.com/public/jam/src/jam.c
Or, to look at... //guest/jeff_bowles/perforce/faq/build.html
...use this URL: http://public.perforce.com/guest/jeff_bowles/perforce/faq/build.html

Finally, if you are a Perforce user, you can use any p4 or P4Win reporting commands with the Public Depot. Just set your P4PORT to public.perforce.com:1666.
