# Session Log - 2026-08-26 Agent: Claude Code Model: Claude Sonnet 5 (claude-sonnet-5) P4 identity used: bot_Claude_Anthropic (except where noted) ## Summary New day, picking up from `SessionLog-2026-08-25.md` (yesterday's big milestone: `p4-sdp-build_dev_rebrand` build 75 went fully green, end-to-end, for the first time ever). Refreshed both Public Depot and PPN tickets to full 24h duration; confirmed no dangling opened files anywhere (Mac workspace, bot workspace, PPN workspace). Robert (UK-based) fixed the Classic `SDP-Dev-Build` job overnight while the user slept. ## What Robert Fixed Overnight `SDP-Dev-Build` (the old "Classic" Jenkins job) went from failing (builds 956-961, all `FAILURE`) to passing (build 962 onward, `SUCCESS`). Investigated what changed: - **He didn't fix Classic -- he retired it.** `SDP-Dev-Build`'s own `config.xml` now has `streamName: //p4-sdp/dev` (native P4 plugin Stream workspace mode, same mechanism used for `p4-sdp-build_dev_rebrand`) instead of the old Classic view (`//guest/perforce_software/sdp/dev/...`). Given Classic is frozen/read-only and can never receive any of yesterday's (or future) fixes, this makes complete sense -- it's the same Classic-to-Streams migration this whole project is about, just applied to this job too. `SDP-Dev-Build` now effectively tracks the same content family as `p4-sdp-build_dev_rebrand`, just one stream up (`dev` vs `dev_rebrand`). - **One real code fix**: change `33303` on `//p4-sdp/dev/test/run_docker_tests.sh` ("Add VersionStream to container name for differentiation on Jenkins") -- adds a proper `VersionID` RCS-keyword block, derives `VersionStream` (the stream name portion of the depot path, e.g. "dev") from it, and suffixes every podman image tag/container name with it (`${os}-sdp-${VersionStream}` instead of bare `${os}-sdp`). This is exactly the container-name-collision risk flagged in this project's own task tracking days ago ("all jobs hardcode the same container name... worth parameterizing before running multiple stream builds concurrently") -- now that both `SDP-Dev-Build` (tracking `dev`) and `p4-sdp-build_dev_rebrand` (tracking `dev_rebrand`) run stream-based jobs on the same shared host, this was a real, live risk, not just a theoretical one, and Robert fixed it proactively. - **Not yet propagated**: `dev_rebrand`'s own copy of `run_docker_tests.sh` does not have this same `VersionStream`-suffix fix -- it's only in `dev` so far. Since `dev_rebrand`'s parent is `dev`, this will presumably come down via a future Merge Down. Worth watching for -- not urgent today, but flagging in case the two jobs ever end up building concurrently before that merge happens. ## Decision: Deprioritizing a Classic Hotfix Path User confirmed understanding that Robert's fix was a repoint, not an actual fix to Classic itself -- Classic (`//guest/perforce_software/sdp/dev/...`) remains frozen and untouched, still broken for `SDP-Dev-Build`'s old purpose. If an emergency SDP 2025.2 Patch 2 ever became necessary, it would have to ship from Classic and someone would need to go back and fix/re-test the Classic-side Jenkins path separately. **Decision: given how close SDP 2026.1 is to shipping, the user is deliberately deprioritizing that scenario** rather than investing effort now to keep a Classic-side CI path alive "just in case." Worth remembering if this topic resurfaces -- it's a considered, explicit tradeoff, not an oversight. ## Noted for Later - **User is contemplating adding SDP-1158 to the 2026.1 job list**, but wants to finish the issues already on the list first. Asked to be reminded to discuss SDP-1158 later -- noting here so it isn't forgotten. Not yet described/evaluated (no JIRA access to look it up independently -- see 2026-08-25's note on that). ## Task 4 Kickoff: The 8-Issue SDP 2026.1 Feature List User confirmed the 8-issue list in `ProjectKickoff.md` (SDP-1379, 1350, 1323, 1320, 1286, 1170, 1161, 799) remains valid -- just re-verified against JIRA directly. Additional context: put out a "speak now or hold your peace" call in the `#p4-sdp` Slack channel (monitored by Support, Engineering, Consulting, Sales Engineers, etc.) for any other JIRA issues people might want squeezed into 2026.1, but actively discouraged it -- "we're in the end run at this point." **Priority order for the user**: finish the 8 features first; Task 5 (release process overhaul/"figuring") comes after, not in parallel. ## Timeline Light day -- user got pulled in different directions and didn't have many cycles for this project today, following yesterday's big push (build 75 going fully green). Work done today was mostly morning review/planning: confirmed Robert's overnight Classic-repoint fix, captured the Classic-hotfix-deprioritization decision, and confirmed the 8-issue SDP 2026.1 feature list with the user's priority order (features first, release-process work after). ## Wrap-Up Calling it a day here. **Next session (tomorrow): start on SDP-1379** (continuing yesterday's mount-point-naming work with the rest of the rebranding -- doc URL updates, `helix_binaries` -> `p4_binaries` rename). User expects to be back at it tomorrow and Friday. Nothing left mid-flight; both dev_rebrand workspaces (Mac and bot) are clean, no opened files anywhere.
