<title>Module Management</title>

<title>Enabling and Disabling Modules</title>
<para>
Modules extend the features and capabilities of your web site. Modules can be enabled or
disabled for each web site as required.

<title>To enable a module for the web site you are editing:</title>

Choose <command>Manage > Modules</command>. The <emphasis role="screen">Manage
Modules</emphasis> screen is displayed, listing available modules.

To enable a module, click <guibutton>Enable</guibutton> and then
<guibutton>Enable Module</guibutton>. The selected module is enabled.

<title>To disable a module for the web site you are editing:</title>

<title>Adding and Removing Modules</title>

Modules contain files in the hierarchy described in
<xref linkend="modules.anatomy.structure"/>. To add and remove modules, you must have
access to the filesystem where &product.longname; is installed (represented as
<constant>CMSDIR</constant> in the following instructions).

<title>To add a module:</title>

Move the module folder to the following location:
<filename><constant>CMSDIR</constant>/sites/all/modules/</filename>

To verify that the new module is detected, choose <command>Manage >
Modules</command>. If the module is correctly defined and located, it is
displayed in the list of modules.

<title>To remove a module:</title>

Disable the module that you intend to remove
(<link linkend="modules.management.enable-disable.disable">see above</link>).

In the filesystem, navigate to
<filename><constant>CMSDIR</constant>/sites/all/modules/</filename>
</listitem>

Delete the folder that contains the module.

To verify that the module is deleted, choose <command>Manage >
Modules</command> and note that the module is no longer displayed in the list of
modules.
