squid - Sam's Qt Undocumented Image Differ (This isn't documentation. Shh.) ======================== Usage ----- squid file1 file2 [-l name1] [-r name2] where file1 and file2 are two image files to be compared. If the optional name1 and name2 arguments are provided, they are displayed as labels for the two files. Naturally, you can set P4DIFF to squid (although it won't handle text diffing very gracefully). Better yet, you can set sid up as a binary diff tool in P4Win and have it only operate on image files. ======================== Interface --------- The toolbar buttons are pretty self-explanatory - the first three are used to toggle the three panes on and off. There are also a couple of zoom buttons, and a couple of different visual aids that you can toggle on. The slider in the middle "diff view" pane lets you fade between the images so your eye can pick out the differences. Note that squid works best on two images of the same size that aren't radically different, although if nothing else it can still be used for side-by-side comparison. ======================== Building -------- If you want to build squid on your favorite platform, you'll need the Qt toolkit (www.trolltech.com) and possibly a bit of prying and jimmying to get it to build. The author assumes no blame for any difficulty you may have, though in theory it should be a piece of cake if you already have some experience with Qt. ======================== Contact ----- If you've made interesting modifications to squid and would like to let me know, or if you've found a grievous bug, drop me a line at samwise@perforce.com.
