Using P4Web, you can configure RSS feeds that display:

You must have an RSS news aggregator/reader installed, such as Sage for Mozilla. Some browsers can be configured for RSS feeds. Check whether your preferred browser can be configured to work with a RSS news aggregator/reader. Standalone RSS aggregators/readers are also available.

To enable you to configure an RSS feed, P4Web displays an "RSS 2.0" link and an button on the following P4Web pages:

To create an RSS feed:

  1. Browse to the desired P4Web page. On the Submitted Changelists and Jobs pages, you can use filtering to display the information you want.
  2. Copy the link location from the "RSS 2.0" link or button to the clipboard (right-click and choose the context menu option that copies the link to the clipboard).
  3. Define a feed for your RSS news aggregator/reader using the link you copied in step 2.

Firefox 1.5

To configure feeds using Firefox and Sage, perform the following steps:

  1. Install the Sage extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=77&application=firefox).
  2. To launch Sage in the browser, type Alt-S (or choose Tools>Sage).
  3. Browse to the Submitted Changelists or Jobs page in P4Web and filter as required, or browse to the P4Web User Specification page for a Perforce user.
  4. To discover RSS feeds, click the magnifying glass icon in the Sage sidebar. Sage displays the Discover Feeds dialog, listing the feeds available on the page.
  5. Choose the feed you want, click Add Feed, then click Close to dismiss the dialog.

To refresh the feed, click it. P4Web queries the Perforce Server and displays the resulting information.

Opera 8.5

To configure feeds using Opera, perform the following steps:
  1. Browse to the Submitted Changelists or Jobs page in P4Web and filter as required, or browse to the P4Web User Specification page for a Perforce user.
  2. If you have not previously subscribed to any RSS feeds, click the XML icon in the address bar and proceed as prompted.
  3. Context-click the XML icon and choose Copy link address.
  4. Choose Feeds>Manage feeds... Opera displays the Subscribe to RSS Newsfeeds dialog.
  5. Click New. Opera displays the Properties dialog.
  6. Paste the link into the Address field, uncheck Get name from feed and enter a descriptive name.
  7. To save the feed definition and dismiss the Properties dialog, click OK.
  8. To dismiss the Subscribe to RSS Newsfeeds dialog, click OK.

To display the feed, click Feeds and select the desired feed.

Safari users

When defining feeds, you must specify fully-qualified host names (mycomputer.mycompany.com) in URLs. Safari cannot handle "localhost".
