P4DCTL is a tool that allows the administrator to describe and control all the Perforce services running on a unix machine.

P4DCTL is used as part of the Perforce Server RPM/DEB packages for Linux (http://package.perforce.com/)

For an official Perforce supported version of P4DCTL please install it using the packages list above.

To add a readme file:

(These commands require the latest Helix command line client and server installed locally, both available for free on the Perforce Helix downloads page).
Clone the project: p4 -d perforce-software-p4dctl clone -p wayfarer-p4d.perforce.com:1666 -f //guest/perforce_software/p4dctl/main/...

Change to the project directory: cd perforce-software-p4dctl

Create a readme file: echo "My first readme" > README.md

Reconcile your workspace: p4 reconcile

Submit the changes: p4 submit -d "adding readme file"

Push changes to the Workshop: p4 push
